KAFE BETAWI

There is a new restaurant opened in Seminyak square, called Kafe Betawi. The name itself clearly explains the type of food they serve.

WARUNG REVIEW
(Bakso Gepeng)

Bakso (meatball) is one of the most favorite dishes in Indonesia. As we all know that bakso is shaped like a ball. Recently I found a warung that sells bakso gepeng (flat meatballs).

For those who miss Betawi food, this is the place you should go. The decoration is Betawi style so the customers would feel like they were in one of those Betawi restaurants in Jakarta. What so great about this place is the wide variety of food they have and the taste is very authentic. Nasi timbel, ulam, pindang, rawon and beef oxtail soup are some of the dishes you find in the menu. If you like soto (Indonesian style soup), they serve many kind of soto. And if you are a noodle lover, there are some noodles dishes you can choose from, like mie tek tek, mie kangkung and mie goreng (fried noodles). When you feel like eating light, they have the old time favorite Betawi snacks like rujak juhi, kerak telor, pempek and tahu genjrot. This time I chose to have soto Betawi. I noticed that they put fried crispy paru (beef lung) in the soto. Usually they just put boiled paru into the soto Betawi. No wonder the taste is so different yet very delicious. The ice tea in kafe Betawi is refillable. The price is very affordable and for the rice set menu is only Rp 30.000 per portion. Good food, nice location with affordable price, Kafe Betawi is the place. I was in Denpasar and passed a warung where they put a banner say ‘Bakso Gepeng.’ It really caught my attention and I decided to stop at the warung. I was very curious and quickly order one portion of bakso gepeng. The bakso is in fact shaped flat. The portion comprises of a choice of rice noodles or flat rice noodles, a few pieces of bakso gepeng, a tofu stuffed with meat, and off course a generous amount of soup. I recommend you to put the special chili which makes the Bakso gepeng more tasty. For this refreshing bakso gepeng, you only need to spend Rp 10.000. Open from 10 am – 10 pm, you must try this tasty bakso gepeng at Pulau Kawe.
